Microway Introduces CLIDE – OpenCL Development Environment and Passively Cooled Cluster Nodes at SC10, Booth 4113 in New Orleans

Also will Showcase MATLAB and Tech-X GPU-Accelerated Applications.

Kingston, MA – November 15, 2010 –

Microway will showcase their new Loop Heat Pipe based cooling technology on a Intel Xeon “Twin” server. This technology is 100% passive and can reduce data center energy consumption by up to 50%. Other benefits include reduced fans and noise, plus increased processor longevity and memory life for lower TCO.

Microway will also introduce CLIDE™– a platform-agnostic development environment which makes it easy to implement, test/benchmark, and deploy OpenCL compute kernels across a variety of devices. Attend the lead developer’s session “GPU Programming in OpenCL with CLIDE: Microway’s Compute Language IDE” in SC10 Exhibitor Forum Rm 280-281 at 1:30-2:00pm November 16. Interested software developers may sign up for a trial by emailing gpgpu@microway.com

Highlighting GPU application acceleration, Microway will demonstrate GPU-accelerated MATLAB on 4 NVIDIA Tesla 20-series GPUs and Tech-X custom GPU software on up to 8 GPUs. The MATLAB demo runs on a WhisperStation-Personal Supercomputer powered by 12 Intel Xeons cores and GPUs. It shows real-time Mandelbrot visualization and FFT speedup comparisons between CPUs and GPUs with dramatic speedups of MATLAB code. Customers may learn more and configure a similar WhisperStation at http://www.microway.com/tesla/

Microway’s OctoPuter GPU platform will be shown running Tech-X ‘s custom software across up to 8 Tesla C2050 or C2070 GPUs. It demonstrates the customer-realized speedup of medical image reconstruction and electromagnetic wave propagation simulation on GPUs versus CPUs.

Microway will also participate in AMD’s Booth 3119. A dual AMD FirePro-powered WhisperStation and dual AMD FireStream GPU- powered server node will run Real-Time Image Geospacial Mapping and Improved Breast Cancer Screening and Microway’s OpenCL implementation.
