NVIDIA Launches Consumer/Gaming GPUs Based Upon Kepler Architecture

NVIDIA launched the first GPUs based upon their new Kepler Architecture last week. These are geared towards gamers and other consumer applications, not compute. No published specs are available at this time on the compute (Tesla) branded parts: Kepler versions of these are expected later this year. Changes from the consumer Fermi (GTX 4XX/5XX) to the consumer Kepler (GTX 680) GPUs include:

We expect these numbers and many of the finer points to change substantially for the Tesla-class versions of GPUs based upon the Kepler architecture. Customers requiring double precision throughput and/or ECC protected memory transactions at this time would be best served with the Fermi generation Tesla product. Look out for more Kepler GPUs later this year!

NVIDIA GTC Registration, Government and Academic Discount

The 2012 NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference is fast approaching. Our tech team considers this the most important event in HPC each year behind Supercomputing.

As a courtesy to our customers, we are pointing out a great discount. Government/academic attendees may use the following registration discount code for 40% off: GA40CF.
