Microway announces NumberSmasher™-4X to NumberSmasher™-128X vSMP, a new product line of large scale SMP Linux servers.

NumberSmasher vSMP servers feature ease of use with a single system and single operating system to manage. A single large DRAM memory resource enables larger workloads that cannot be run otherwise and offers an alternative to costly and proprietary RISC systems. A high-core count allows threaded applications to scale. These modular, scalable SMP servers maintain a balance between the number of CPUs, memory bandwidth, storage bandwidth and I/O from 4 CPU sockets to 32 sockets. With Intel Harpertown Quad Core Xeon CPUs, these servers support up to 128 Cores, 1 TB DRAM and 32 TB storage.

Based on standard Linux OS, kernel level 2.6.11 or later, and leveraging the Intel Compiler Suite Professional for parallelization and optimization, the NumberSmasher SMP servers offer superior performance and compute density at very reasonable prices. The Compiler Suite comes with Intel® C++ Compiler, Intel Fortran Compiler, Intel Threading Building Blocks, Intel Math Kernel Library, and Intel Integrated Performance Primitives.
