Microway® and SCAI Announce Partnership
Companies Will Provide Fully Integrated Cluster, Server, and WhisperStation™ Solutions for R Statistical Applications
Kingston, MA -- April 2, 2006 - Microway® today announced its partnership
with Scientific Computing Associates, Inc. (SCAI™) of New Haven, CT to deliver
quiet workstation, server and cluster products integrated with R, the popular
statistical scripting language, and SCAI's NetWorkSpaces Pro™ and Sleigh™
software for R. Parallel applications developed in this environment will be able to
run on networks combining WhisperStations with servers and clusters. The products
are shipping now and will be available for viewing in the AMD booth #662 at Linuxworld
in Boston on April 4-6 2006.
WhisperStation™-R is a fully integrated workstation targeted to statistical
researchers and scientists using R. Designed from the ground up for ultimate customer
satisfaction, the WhisperStation-R standard configuration features ultra-quiet fans
and power supply, internal sound-proofing, one or two Dual Core AMD Opterons, a 3D
Labs Wildcat PCI Express Graphics Engine, 2GB memory, and a 24" LCD monitor.
The cluster solution for R may be purchased in multiples of four nodes and includes high
speed connectivity, SuSE Linux, and Microway's MCMS cluster management tools as well as
MMDS MPI diagnostic suite.
Both the workstation and cluster solutions are fully integrated with R as well as SCAI's
NetWorkSpaces Pro and Sleigh products for R. These powerful and easy to use R packages
enable an end user to create and run parallel R applications easily, in a familiar
environment, and with little or no assistance from IT. The software is preinstalled
and certified. A subscription for the software from SCAI for one year is included.
WhisperStation-R offers Affordable, High-end Performance in an Ultra-quiet
Environment
The WhisperStation-R combines software from SCAI, the power of dual-core AMD Opteron
and ultra-quiet performance to give statistical researchers and scientists all the
computing power needed to run the most demanding applications, without distracting
system noise to interrupt their concentration. The system is fully integrated with
popular operating systems and SCAI's NetWorkSpaces Pro and Sleigh products for R.
A similarly configured quad or 8-way SMP server or cluster is available for users of R.
