Microway Announces Screamer I-64
Intel® Xeon EM64T based Servers and Clusters for Mission Critical 64 bit Applications.
Kingston, MA, February 14, 2005
Microway today announced availability of Screamer I-64, their 1U 64-bit dual
Intel® Xeon solution for HPC clusters and Servers. Running Red Hat or SUSE
Linux or Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 HP Edition, the platform is ideal for
64-bit compute-intensive applications including CFD, FEA and Oracle. The platform includes
Microway's Nodewatch/MCMS hardware and software tool for remote cluster management,
monitoring and control.
The latest Intel® Xeon 3.6 GHz processor with 2MB L2 cache incorporates innovations
including Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology, SSE3 instructions and Hyper-Threading technology.
Screamer I-64 includes the Intel® Server Board SE7520JR2, and expanded 800 MHz system bus
and PCI-Express graphics capability.
Stephen Fried, President and CTO explained: "Screamer I-64 is ideal for building HPC clusters running
coarse and fine grain parallel MPI applications and can utilize Gigabit Ethernet or InfiniBand to
connect nodes. Each node features a pair of Intel® Xeon EM64T processors, running at 3.6
GHz with two megabytes of on chip cache. These processors use a new Intel instruction set, which
contains extended 64-bit registers. The Intel compilers, allow the user take excellent advantage of a
64-bit physical address space. Advanced optimization techniques, including loop unrolling, software
pipelining and memory disambiguation, make it possible to take full advantage of extended SSE II registers
producing efficient floating point code."
