Microway to Resell PathScale InfiniPath™ Interconnect
HPC Innovator to offer Industry's Lowest Latency cluster interconnect with Navion™
line of AMD Opteron-based clusters.

Kingston, MA - November 9, 2004 - Microway, a major HPC vendor specializing in 64-bit Linux clusters, servers, and RAID storage solutions, today announced that it has partnered with PathScale, Inc. to resell the PathScale InfiniPath Interconnect. Microway will incorporate PathScale's InfiniPath in their industry-leading four and eight processor Navion offerings. The Navion cluster platform, based on AMD's Opteron™ processor, was named "Best 64-bit Turnkey Solution" at ClusterWorld 2003. PathScale is a developer of innovative software and hardware solutions to accelerate the performance and efficiency of Linux clusters. The PathScale InfiniPath HTX Adapter is the industry's lowest-latency Linux cluster interconnect, delivering SMP-class performance to commodity-priced clustered computing.

"InfiniPath is the fastest interconnect available, and will be a critical differentiator in a variety of situations where we're bidding Navion servers," commented Ann Fried, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Microway. "PathScale is creating a true sea change in terms of commodity cluster scalability, which will expand markets for solutions previously open only to very expensive SMP-based solutions."

InfiniPath makes application scalability to thousands of nodes practical for the first time ever, and allows users to move complex computational jobs into larger clusters and obtain faster results. By dramatically increasing cluster performance, scalability and throughput, InfiniPath enables HPC users to leverage the flexibility and cost effectiveness of Linux clusters for both parallel applications and applications that previously could only be run on large, proprietary symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems.

"The kind of scalability InfiniPath provides completely changes what is possible in a clustered computing environment," said Art Goldberg, Chief Operating Officer for PathScale. "It gives Microway, a leader in implementing Linux clusters, unprecedented advantages in applications that require low-latency interconnects." Visitors to the SuperComputing 2004 Conference are invited to see a demonstration of the PathScale-powered Navion Server in the AMD (#1841) PathScale (#1849), and Microway (#1534) booths.
