Microway releases new 21264DP 833MHz Processor Cards with 8 MB DDR Cache.
Significant Upgrade Path Offered for Current Users.
Plymouth, MA- May 25, 2002 - Microway, a leading manufacturer of custom
configured Alpha-based Linux Beowulf Clusters and servers, today announced the
release of their proprietary 21264DP daughtercards. The new product extends the
264DP platform to higher speed processors with larger and faster caches and
supports both Linux and Compaq Tru64 UNIX. It contains 4 or 8 MB of DDR cache
and yields significantly higher benchmarks than the 667 MHz version with 4 MB
late write cache presently offered by typical Alpha vendors. It is used with
Microway's 21264DP planar card. The 833 MHz cards are available for immediate
shipping.
"As a respected leader in the Alpha HPC market, we understand the needs of
customers for next generation product. This board was developed and
manufactured at Microway's in-house SMT facility. It is the first of many
advanced technology platforms we intend to manufacture internally, including
Athlon and Pentium platform products." said Ann Fried, Chairperson of Microway.
In October, Microway signed an agreement with API Networks to assume
responsibility for servicing their current Alpha customer base in North and
South America, Europe and Japan. Microway was chosen for their extensive
technical expertise, demonstrated financial stability and over six years of
experience with Alpha based systems.
